401k contribution limits

401k contribution limits
There are certain guidelines issued by IRS from time to time regarding the specific limits on the amount that is to be saved and contributed to one’s 401K plan every year. In addition the IRS fixes on the highest range of pre-tax amount that is required to be contributed in 401K plan. It was in 2005, that the range of $14,000 (extreme limit) by way of pre-tax contributions was made to plans sponsored by employers. As against this, in the year 2006 the largest pre-tax contribution limit of $15,000 was set. All above contributions were the result of decisions passed under the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. There are several other provisions as well like if one is working two employers simultaneously there is other IRS pre-tax limit for that particular year as well. For the 401K account contribution, the IRS has set up the maximum range for the aggregated sum from all the various sources. Thus under this, both the employer matching contributions and employee after-tax contributions are included. There are special provisions for catch-up contributions as well, like in case one is 50years older or more, the catch-up contributions for him are different like in the year 2005, the additional excess catch-up contribution was $4000 and in the next year it was 1000 dollars extra means $5000. However after 2006 on these contributions were changed, now from 2006 on the limits to these contributions are subjected to the cost of living adjustments which is also called “COLA.” It is worth to note that in the scenario where if the employees pre-tax contribution is not more than the contribution limit as per the plan or even dollar limit calculated annually of IRS in a particular calendar year , then total or part of all the employee’s catch-up contribution would be taken as the regular and normal pre-tax contribution. All these contribution limits are set up keeping in mind that no discrimination can be made by the employers for their employees who are earning much. If you are worried about your retirement and you are thinking about how it would be possible for you to enjoy your retirement days, the best solution is to plan for your retirement. What all is required is that you should start planning your retirement since the very beginning as only you would be able to have a huge accumulation of money for your retirement. There are many ways by which you could save money for your retirement but the best way is to go for 401K contributions.

Coffee shops in general are much cleaner than any other restaurant type business which makes them popular to own and operate. Usually a coffee shop franchise relies both on coffee flavors and mixtures and on the atmosphere of the location to make a successful franchise opportunity. Since the selection of coffee beans is somewhat finite, many of the shops rely on exotic mixtures with wonderful names to entice people into the shop. Typical of this group of coffee shop franchises is Mocha Delight and Hawaii’s Java Kai. Both have traditional and exotic coffee mixtures. Hawaii’s Java Kai also has specialty drinks and some food items. Others use a theme to be eye-catching. An example of a theme coffee shop is Java Grande which has a drive thru emphasis. The shop is specially designed to allow for four to five cards on each side of the drive through and there is inside seating as well. The franchisor assists in picking the location, as it is all important for this coffee on the go concept. No matter which coffee house franchise you choose, you can be sure that with careful placement of your business and the assistance of the franchisor, you are set to be a successful beverage restaurateur.

Us senate deliberations on bank bailouts

Us senate deliberations on bank bailouts
There have been several issues that have caught the attention of the general public as well as the different leaders present at the Senate. The US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts involved various minutely thought of aspects, which in turn could do damage to the countries economy if not checked at the start. The only factor that forced the Senate to concede to the $700 billion agreement was the major downfall of the stock market and all time huge crash down of US banks. The only things that the bailout bill suggests are a few ways, by which to recover from a further rejection and means by which the taxpayers would be relieved. However, at the US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts nothing conclusive could be drawn out about the root cause of all this messed up situation. There have been various talks between the White house and the Congress, who took their time in considering their options, while on the other hand the entire stock market was drifting like a dice. In the end the President of US, George W. Bush, showed some glimmer of hope for the Congress to think over the matter and come up with positive result. While the US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts went on, involving both Republican and Democratic leaders along with the US Treasury board officials, the entire market crumpled down gradually. This forced one of the members to put the matter forward stating that, even the market is telling us that time is an important factor. A result had to be brought about in a span of short time, because once the banks crashed completely it would set a chain of downfalls in world economy, which could not be settled by US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts. The share market price of majority of the banks flunked deep down, setting panic among the individuals of different working sectors. Even the Wachovia bank, which is the 6th largest bank of US, has had a dip in its stock that tumbled by 36% and closed at 29% low. Conditions of all the other banks have been the same and even insurance companies like that of the AIG had its difficulties. However, it has been considered at the US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts to give up most of the outstanding mortgage debts over to the Fannie May and Freddie Mac, who had been rescued out of the same situation some days earlier. Whatever be the matter the situation the first priority should be to keep the world economy under stable condition; if that breaks then there would again be a scenario of having the haves and have-nots. This could have been considered at the US Senate deliberations on bank bailouts, which forced them further to approve the $700 billion for relieving the banks.

How do mutual funds work

How do mutual funds work
In this small article about mutual funds we will like to explain how the mutual funds actually work. This is an ingenious solution that humans have invented to solve their investment problems. Let me give conceptual ideas about how do mutual funds work, first. Suppose that you want to invest in stocks. Suppose that you will need $10,000 to invest as the minimum investment in that type of the stock. You have only $100 to invest. What can you do? You can find the investors like you who are interested in buying that particular stock share. Everybody has, let us assume, $100 to invest. If you can get 100 similar interested people, you can buy COLLECTIVELY $10,000 stock shares of that particular company. You can all share the cost of buying, cost of experts’ advice expenses, collectively. Similarly you can share all benefits collectively. This is the basic concept behind the mutual funds. The advantages in this type of system of mutual funds are many. Firstly even if you have only $100 to investment, you can be part of the stocks of that particular company. This makes it easy to build your portfolio. You have low cost entry into building your diversified portfolio. You have experts who do all the research work involved in any type of investment. There are many types of mutual funds available in the market. The mutual fund company invests in stocks, bonds, short term market instruments and many other assets. There can be combinations of these also. Thus from low risk and low gain to high risk and high gain, you can get mutual funds of your choice. A mutual company collects money as the shares from investors. This collected money is invested in different stocks or assets in which it is focused. The mutual company holds combined holdings. This is called as portfolio of the mutual funds company. Each share will represent proportionate holding in the mutual funds company’s total holding. Each share of the mutual funds company will represent the proportionate income generated by this holding. Let us consider some types of mutual fund companies. A mutual funds company has invested in stocks shares. It collects the dividends and interests on all the securities. It will deduct any expenses incurred. Then net profits will be distributed in all share holders of the mutual funds company. The expenses are publicly declared. This type of mutual funds are called as dividend Payments type mutual funds. There can be capital gains distribution type mutual funds. The NAV value of the mutual funds shows its efficiency. The higher the NAV value, better is its performance. It is obvious that profitability will depend on the expert’s fund managing skills. .

Bank bailout vote card

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Bank bailout vote card
The proposed bailout plan of the US government is one of the most landmark decisions ever made in American history. In the past we have seen many government backed bailout plans but the present bailout plan is the biggest and plans to rescue the entire economy from dire straits. The problems with such a proposed plan are many and in many countries the bailout plans have failed miserably and the markets did not recover and dipped further. The failed bailout plans are very few and generally have been successful. In the history of economic bailouts the American bailout plans have been largely successful. The success of these bailout plans has been due to proper policy making and at the same time implementation of those policies. The companies which reported bankruptcy were mostly reputed companies and the success of the economy depended mainly on them. The government provided financial aid to these companies and bought their stocks to bail them out from financial crunch situations. Therefore, it is expected that the current bailout plan will be successful in restoring the economy. The bailout plan has been proposed at a time when the Americans are expecting a new government. The democrats and republicans are in race for the seat of power. The current bailout plan is so strategically placed that it will make an impact on the election results. The bank bailout plans will restore financial stability and the confidence of the people will be restored. The banks are the pillars of faith for any country’s people and the financial future of the countrymen depends largely on the banks. Once the bank bailout plans falls in place the confidence of the people will be raised considerably. The markets will bounce back and the world economic scenario will improve. The stock markets make a huge mark on the investors’ policy. You can say, in other words, the stock market depends entirely on the investors and if the investors are satisfied they will definitely invest more. The policymakers will be attracted towards the economy when they see a healthy stock market and hence the dividends earned will be quite good and the investors will be confident. The bank bailout will affect the American vote bank and it is expected to go in favor of the government. The government, if successful in bailing out the bankrupt banks, will be more popular in the face of the nation. The axe on the government falls when the government fails to curb inflation and other economic failures. In spite of that if the government manages to bail out the economy from a crunch situation then the vote bank will shift in its favor. The trust of the nation remains on the government and so they expect it to do well and any successful policy making will go in its favor.

Secured car loans

Secured car loans
Owning a car has never been so easy. Car loans have made owning a car a reality for thousands of people. It is a dream come true for many. Cars are such an essential part of our life these days that it is difficult to imagine it without cars. However, affording a car is a different proposition altogether and that is why many people went without cars for many many years. But no more. Car loans have extended a helping hand to make this dream a reality. There are many reasons to get a car loan. First is the most obvious thing - affordability. Many individuals could not afford cars with their income levels and provide for a down payment. Car loans are a easy way to pay for their car on monthly installments and thus does not put pressure on their finances. Secondly, many people always wanted to go for a particular type of car. It is like their childhood dream. But there are short on their finances to be able to afford that car, some of which are very expensive. Car loans can help you bridge this gap and make owning that expensive dream car a reality. Secured car loans are a type of car loans where the loan is extended to you against collateral. The collateral can be anything from a property to valuable financial papers. In fact the car which is being bought can be kept as collateral. Unsecured car loans are the other type of loans where no collateral is kept for the loan. The value of the collateral determines the amount of the loan which will be extended. Since the approval of the loan requires the collateral to be appraised for its worth, secured car loans usually take longer to sanction. However, the benefits are many. Secured car loans entertain low interest rates. These interest rates are one of the lowest in the market. Secured car loans also come with another benefit of flexible repayment terms and it is up to the borrower to decide how much monthly outflow he/she would like to have against the loan. For people with bad credit standing, secured car loans can be a great benefit. Because of the bad credit situation, these people find it difficult to secure car loans as loans given to them are considered to be very risky. Thus the loans that they get are usually of significantly higher interest rates. But for secured car loans, the story is quite different. Since this loan is backed by a security, the risks associated are much lesser and hence even a person with bad credit is eligible for competitive interest rates.

401k distributions

401k distributions
The main cause of concern for most of the Americans, who are employed at present, is how their future is going to be after retirement. There are several retirement plans for the sake of employees in order to make them get rid of their tensions after retirement. Among such plans 401k plan has its own importance. In addition to uncertain future, the main cause of worry for most of the people is how to take their 401k distribution after their retirement. Earlier it was quite easy with the money that was available after retirement as one only needs to take his hard earned money after his retirement but now there are many things to consider. If one would opt for withdrawing his money before his retirement, then he would have to pay a huge amount of money by way of tax. Thus it is required to plan the retirement money in advance to get rid of all the problems afterwards. In case one’s employer requires distribution of one’s 401k plan funds after the retirement, in that case the best way to evade heavy taxes is by rolling it over to an IRA. A good amount of money at one time is surely going to bring huge tax burden with it. However there are some employers who provide an option to their employees after retirement to leave their funds as it is in the company’s 401k plan. Now a very interesting question which arises is if one would get the option of leaving his money in the plan and the second option which we would get-to roll it into an IRA, then in that case which would be the most preferable option? The main advantage of letting the money remain in 401k is that by this way one could let his money grow and that too without any tax imposition. In addition to freedom from tax liability other advantage is that one remains as the subject matter to the rules of the plan and the various investment options being offered by the company. In addition one is also affected by the modifications or changes in the plan which the employer makes after the retirement of employees. The money which is available in the 401k account remains in safe hands and is well protected from the creditors as well as from any other lawsuits. In case expires, the beneficiaries of the deceased are entitled to keep the lump sum 401K distribution. The second option i.e. rolling one’s savings into an IRA enables one to keep on investing and making his assets grow and that too without any tax burden. In addition it also provides several other benefits as well like it provides more control over one’s money and his investments. However the drawback is that in case one dies, the distribution of IRA funds to one’s beneficiaries may get spread over number of years but the protection of funds from creditors in not possible. Thus one needs to consider properly before taking any decision of 401K distribution.
